At Qualifyze, we are expanding our financial and operational footprint. To strengthen our finance organization, we are seeking a Director, Accounting & Tax who will ensure financial excellence, compliance, and scalability across all entities.
This is a pivotal role reporting directly to the VP of Finance. You will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and process optimization while fostering strong collaboration between the accounting team and other departments.
You will oversee and manage the global Accounting and Tax function, mentor and develop a team of accounting professionals, and ensure operational excellence across all entities.
Based in our Frankfurt office, occasional travel to Barcelona and other international locations may be required. This is a dynamic, hands-on, and strategic role where you will help shape and streamline accounting and tax practices, aligning them with organizational goals and driving continuous improvement.
Main responsibilities,
The team member will be responsible for the tasks inherent to this position, including, but not limited to, the following:
Accounting Operations:
Oversee and manage all accounting functions, including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll.
Drive timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closes across entities.
Implement, document, and continuously improve accounting processes to ensure efficiency and scalability.
Maintain accurate and ongoing accounting records and systems across entities.
Group Accounting:
Ensure proper intercompany accounting and consolidation for global operations.
Prepare, review, and present consolidated financial statements and management reports.
Manage and strategically improve transfer pricing across the group with support from advisors.
Compliance and Reporting
Ensure full compliance with local GAAP, IFRS, and relevant tax and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate and lead external audits, ensuring audit readiness, transparency, and strong relationships with auditors.
Monitor changes to accounting standards and tax regulations, and update internal policies and procedures as needed.
Manage corporate income tax, VAT/GST with support from local advisors.
Strategic Business Support
Partner closely with FP&A, Legal, and business teams to align financial strategies with company objectives.
Provide actionable financial insights to support executive decision-making and growth initiatives.
Contribute to strategic projects, including fundraising, M&A, and international expansion.
Manage global tax planning, structuring, and optimization to ensure compliance and efficiency across jurisdictions.
Team Development and Systems
Build, manage, and mentor a high-performing accounting team across locations.
Evaluate and enhance accounting tools, ERP systems, and reporting infrastructure for better scalability and integration.
Lead automation initiatives to streamline workflows and improve reporting accuracy.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the finance team.
What are we looking for?
10+ years of progressive experience in accounting and tax, including 5 years in a leadership role.
Strong knowledge of IFRS and German GAAP (HGB). Worked with advisors to consolidate other local GAAPs (US GAAP is a plus).
Proven experience managing multi-entity international accounting and consolidations.
Deep understanding of international tax principles, compliance, and transfer pricing.
Demonstrated success in building and leading high-performing accounting teams.
Hands-on experience with ERP and reporting systems (NetSuite is a plus).
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Fluent in English; German or Spanish proficiency is a strong plus.
CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification preferred.
Demonstrated leadership potential and the ability to resolve conflicts diplomatically in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
